Xero: Set up the accounting integration

Purpose: Wether you are integrating with Xero for the first time or switching from a differnet package it is important to take your time on each step and if you have any questions reach out to the support team

Choosing your package:

Profile icon > Integrations > Accounting Packagaes > Add integration > Setup integration > Enter Accounting setup email > Next step > Choose Xero > Next Step 

 

Authenticating Xero

After completing these steps within Commusoft, you'll be directed to Xero. There, you may need to log in, enter your Xero credentials, and click "Login." If required, follow the prompts to complete two-factor authentication. Finally, click "Allow Access" to grant Commusoft permission to integrate with your Xero account. Once done, you'll be redirected back to Commusoft.

 

Setup Wizard

You will now be asked to complete the setup and a series of preferences. Follow all the steps carefully, ensuring you read all the information provided clicking next step once each is actioned, some steps are simple and just require you to confirm the information is correct.

 

Would you like to import your customer and supplier database from Xero.

  • Import data:
    • Yes, I would like to import all customers and suppliers from Xero.
    • No, I would not like to import all customers and suppliers from Xero.

 

If you choose to add Customers manually to Commusoft you will need to link your Customers.

 

If you do not have a value in the Title field in Xero we will import the top Title in your settings as this is a required field in Commusoft.

 

Commusoft does not take responsibility for the data imported from your accounting package. Keep in mind that accounting packages often present data differently; therefore, the tidier the data within your package, the smoother the importing process into Commusoft will be. For instance, some accounting packages may classify estate agents as companies, and consequently, they will be imported as such into Commusoft.





Read the information and tick the box to confirm your selection, then click 'Next step' once more.


  1. You will be asked what date you would like the import to start from.

  2. You can select the date you started using Commusoft, or you can select any date, today, past, or future.

  3. You may want to backdate your accounting integration to the beginning of the current quarter or the beginning of your financial year.

  4. You may want to select the current date so that moving forward all accounting information will be synced.

  5. You may want to select a date in the future for the beginning of the next quarter or the next financial year.

  6. Select your choice and click 'Next step'.


  7. Read the information and tick the box to confirm your selection, then click 'Next step'.

  8. You can now select when you want Commusoft to send data to Xero. You can select from Automatically (every two hours) or Manually (when you click the Send data button).

  9. Please note if you choose automatic, you can still manually sync Commusoft and Xero by clicking the Send data button at any time you wish.

    Important: We recommend setting your integration to manually send data until you fully understand the process.

    Choose one of the options from here and click 'Next step'.

  10. Read the information and tick the box to confirm your selection, then click 'Next step'.



  11. The accounting integration has now been set up and you will see this confirmation page. Read the information carefully and click 'Close'.

  12. You will now see the accounting integration dashboard.

  13. You will have some data in the waiting to be sent box. This means that data is ready to send to Xero, you can click the 'Send data now' button to send the data from Commusoft to Xero.

Before you press 'Send data now' it is important to link your nominal codes and customers if required.
