You can store a library of various appliances within Commusoft. These are stored and segmented into various categories, meaning you can search according to type, make, or model.
- You need to have each category set up from the top down (groups > types > makes > models) in order to have your appliances stored within Commusoft.
- Fuel types (found under 'System settings') are used to describe an appliance, defining it by the kind of fuel it uses.
- You can set up your various fuel types (Electric, Oil, Solid fuel, etc.) from this page within your system settings.
Appliance Groups
Purpose: Being able to add the specific types of appliance groups you work with is pertinent to your job and your workflows. Because there is no set limit here, you can set a variety of groups you may need to use. This reduces admin time and helps make concise information more obvious to your engineers when on site. You can add appliance groups in this area. Doing so will allow you to better drill down specific appliances within the system.
Add appliance group
- Go to System Settings > Appliance Groups
- Add your appliance group using the box on the left of the page. We would advise you to be general in your design of groups, as more specific types are in other areas of the system.
Edit appliance group
- To edit, click on edit. From here you will be able to alter the entry and re-save.
Delete appliance group
Please note: Deletion in Commusoft is irreversible
- To delete entries, click on delete. To delete in Commusoft you must type delete and tap confirm in the pop-up module. If you are unable to delete an entry, you will be given a reason why.
Appliance Types
Purpose: Being able to better drill down the types of appliances you work with, as well as being able to add those types, is important to be able to do the correct work and have the workflow processes that your company depends on.
Please Note: If you do not see the group you need, please add an appliance group first.
Appliance types fall under appliance groups. Here you can segment your appliances into smaller, more specific niches. For example, if you have 'Ovens' as a 'group, you can create the type 'double burner' to go within this group.
- Go to System Settings > Appliance Types
- Select the appropriate group you want to add to, then add the appliance.
Example: You'd want to select the appliance group "oven" then the type as "double burner oven"

Appliance Makes
Purpose: Being able to add the specific types of appliances you can work with is pertinent to your job and your workflows. Because there is no set limit here, you can set a variety of makes you may need to use. This reduces admin time and helps make concise information more obvious to your engineers when on site.
The appliance makes allows you to add your manufacturer names to your appliances. This allows for better categorization and marking for appliances.

- Go to System Settings > Appliance Makes.
- Add your manufacturer name as it applies to your inventory. Hit Save.

Merging Appliance Makes
Merging appliance makes can help when you may need to consolidate different types of appliances, or when brands merge, this section helps you do so.
- Go to advanced options, and access "merge appliance makes"
- Use the checklist to select the manufacturers you'd like to merge, then hit "Merge appliance makes".
- To select an individual merge, find your manufacturer, and hit the merge button, then type in your value as needed in the dropdown.
Appliance Models
Purpose: Appliance models allow you to add a variety of different models depending on your work. This can be used to get concise, drilled-down information that is important for your engineers to know what work they may be doing. This also helps your customers know in the future their reference model numbers, and what to reach back out on should an item need maintenance.
Please Note: These settings are dependent on the other appliance settings, Groups, Types, and Makes.
Main content:
- Go to System settings > appliance models.
- Select the appliance group, fuel type, and appliance make before adding the specific model number/name. Then hit save.

Merging Appliance Models
- Go to the advanced options and access the Merge appliance models area.
- Use the checklist to select a model to merge and type in the dropdown, or, just hit the merge button by a specific appliance model, and hit merge.
