Updating Commusoft After Changing Your Sage 50cloud Accounts Version

Before proceeding with an update, please contact Commusoft to ensure compatibility with the Sage version you plan to upgrade to. We currently support Sage 50cloud Accounts (formerly Sage Line 50/Instant) from version 26.3 up to 30. For those using Sage v29/30, ensure you have the latest Sage interface v1.06

Pre-Update Checklist

  1. Ensure there are no records in the accounting dashboard under "waiting to be sent," "processing," or "failed" logs.
  2. Uninstall and reinstall the Sage Interface.

Uninstall the Sage Interface

  1. Open Windows Services and stop the SageInterface service.
  2. Go to Windows Search > Type "Control Panel" > Click Control Panel
  3. Under View by, select Large Icons > Click Programs and Features
  4. Click "SageInterface" > Click "Uninstall" twice > Click "Close" to complete the uninstallation.

Backup Your Sage Database

  • Ensure you take a full backup before proceeding.

Reinstall the Sage Interface

  1. In Commusoft, go to Profile icon > Integrations > View dashboard > Quick links > Download Sage interface.
  2. The Sage interface download file will be saved in your PC/Server's downloads area.
  3. Locate the file, right-click, and select "Run as administrator" to follow the on-screen instructions.

Initialise the Service

  1. Once installed, open Services and Event Viewer on the Sage PC/Server.
  2. The services take about 15 minutes to initialise. Checkpoints will appear in Event Viewer logs > Windows Logs > Applications.

Check Commusoft Dashboard

  1. Return to Commusoft and refresh the dashboard. Records should start sending.

Post-Installation Diligence

  1. Conduct diligent checks on Sage 50 for the next few days.
  2. Regularly back up your Sage data.

Important Credentials

Ensure you fully read and confirm all credentials when prompted:

  • Sage username (required)
  • Sage password (required)
  • Sage database location (required, often changes when updating, ends in ACCDATA)
  • VAT method (required)
  • 20% VAT rate code (required)
  • 5% VAT rate code (required)
  • 0% VAT rate code (required)
  • Domestic reverse 20% VAT rate code (for Sage 50 Version 27.1 and above)
  • Domestic reverse 5% VAT rate code (for Sage 50 Version 27.1 and above)

Additional Notes

  • Install the Sage interface only once on the main Sage PC/Server.
  • Administrator privileges are required to install the Sage interface.
  • Reverse VAT is supported for Sage 50 v27.1 and above.
  • For systems with antivirus software, ensure the download is allowed and add exclusions post-installation.

    • Program: SageInterfaceService.exe

Windows Configuration

Occasionally, Windows updates or startup processes may interfere with our service. To mitigate this, set the service to Automatic (Delayed Start) and configure it to recover itself if it stops.
